Lead Instructor Application Information


What is a Lead Instructor?

 

A person who has successfully completed an FSPCA Preventive Controls course and an FSPCA Lead Instructor Course. A Lead Instructor may independently offer the FSPCA standardized curriculum (PC Course) directly to participants.


How can I become Lead instructor? 


You must complete and submit the on-line application to be considered as a Lead Instructor Candidate. Your application will be reviewed by the FSPCA Review Committee and evaluated against selection criteria.  You will be contacted on the status of your application. If you are approved you will be notified to attend the next available Lead Instructor course. The approval process usually takes 3 to 4 weeks to complete

Once you are part of the FSPCA Community, but before you begin your application, please consult the Lead Instructor Applicaton help documents directly below.  These documents provide helpful hints pertaining to the completion of your Lead Instructor Application.



Applicants should complete their community profile and application. Uploading supplemental documents such as CV's or resumes is not an accceptable alternative to completely filling out the application. This can adversely affect the scoring process.


Qualifications to Become a Lead Instructor / Selection Criteria


Education: Applicants must have at least 30 semester hours in one or a combination of the following sciences; food science/technology; chemistry; microbiology/ veterinary science; animal science; public health; environmental health; or related scientific fields that provided knowledge directly related to the human or animal food industry.


Work Experience: Applicants must have at least five years of food safety work experience in or with the human or animal food industry, e.g., food processing, packaging, handling facilities, corporate food safety function; food safety consulting or laboratory; food testing; food safety auditing; food safety training and education; food safety regulatory work (inspections, policy development, compliance work); or other related experience.


Food Safety Training Experience: Applicants must identify specific courses/programs in which they have participated in an instructor capacity.The committee will determine relevance of the experience and may consider:HACCP Instruction experience; combinations of different food/food safety courses (including feed); academic teaching experience.
